People keep telling me how turned off they are by this presidential election, but many viewers are following every step in the Donald Trump-Hillary Clinton race.
Last week's ratings reveal that interest and show victories shared by news organizations and programs.
In the evening news race, "ABC World News Tonight With David Muir" had the most viewers -- 8.291 million -- and has won that count three times so far in the four-week season. "NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt" placed second with 8.045 million. "CBS Evening News With Scott Pelley" ranked third with 6.554 million. ABC said it is enjoying its largest audience in 13 years.
But NBC won the 18-to-49 and 25-to-54 age groups. The 25-to-54 count is most important to news advertisers; NBC had 2.013 million of them to ABC's 1.758 million and CBS' 1.537 million. They are all up form last year: NBC by 9 percent, ABC by 2 percent and CBS by 8 percent.
In the morning, ABC's "Good Morning America" and NBC's "Today" are in a close contest. "GMA" averaged 4.476 million viewers to NBC's 4.289 million. "CBS This Morning" drew 3.435 million -- and it was up 6 percent from last year. "GMA" has been No. 1 at this point in the season for five years in a row.
